Valley Voter Guide: How to Register and Vote in the November 3 Election

Last Updated: October 19, 2026By

Connecticut’s advance voter-registration deadline has passed. Eligible voters can still register and vote during early voting, October 19 through November 1, or on Election Day, November 3.

Registered voters can vote in person during early voting, by absentee ballot, or at their assigned polling place on Election Day.

Key Dates

  • Friday, October 16: Advance-registration deadline passed. Same-day registration remains available on the dates below.
  • October 19 through November 1: Early voting and same-day registration.
  • Monday, November 2: Absentee application deadline. Also the last day to return your own absentee ballot directly to the town clerk, by close of business.
  • Tuesday, November 3: Polls open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Absentee ballots sent by mail or returned through an official municipal drop box must be received by 8 p.m. Same-day registration is available at designated locations.

Registration: Same-Day Options Remain

The advance-registration deadline was Friday, October 16. If you are not registered, you can still register and vote in person through same-day registration during early voting or on Election Day.

The Secretary of the State’s elections office confirmed to Sound Valley Current on October 14 that ordinary voter-registration cards postmarked October 16 or earlier will be processed for the November 3 election. Cards postmarked after October 16 will not be processed until the day after the election. If you missed the deadline, use same-day registration during the dates below.

Missed October 16? Register and Vote the Same Day

October 16 was not your last chance to register. Same-day registration is available during early voting, October 19 through November 1, and on Election Day, November 3.

During early voting, you can register and vote at your town’s early-voting location listed below. For Election Day, ask your registrar for the designated same-day registration site; it may differ from the early-voting site. Bring documents establishing your identity and residence, and arrive early to allow time for registration.
